Kimberly Dam's journey as a visual storyteller began as an 8-year-old, in possession of a hot pink 35 mm Minolta. With an endlessly wandering heart and an artistic eye, it wasn't long before she realized what her camera would become: a powerful tool to cultivate her creative expression as a witness and, ultimately, a sharer of stories.

Kim’s love of storytelling led her to pursue an education in journalism, where she developed a deep appreciation for the written word, visual narratives, and the art of bringing stories to life. Her experience as a newspaper editor, magazine copy editor, and visual storyteller has shaped her ability to approach each project with both a journalist’s curiosity and a photographer’s eye. In 2005, she launched her photography business, combining her passion for people, places, and authentic storytelling into a lifelong creative pursuit.

Since then, Kim has worked with countless individuals in some of the most remote regions of the world, documenting their life stories as they unfolded along the way. Her editorial background has also led to collaborations as a copy editor for travel blogs and for Hamilton College’s award-winning Alumni Magazine, while her photography has been featured on the covers of Wilmington’s Cape Fear Living Magazine and in a solo travel feature for The Editorial QC Magazine. Through both words and imagery, Kim continues to create compelling narratives that connect audiences with people, places, and brands.

In addition to her photography, Kim’s passion for eco-friendly and sustainable products has inspired collaborations with businesses on branding, e-commerce, and visual storytelling projects.

Currently based in Wilmington, N.C., Kim is one of the area’s most sought-after commercial photographers. Whether documenting a person, a place, a product, or a cause, she brings a journalist’s perspective, an editor’s precision, and a storyteller’s heart to every project.
