Recently, a client I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside through The Inheritance reached out to work with me again.
As she shared her reasons and all that was stirring in her, she concluded with something along the lines of, “I don't know... I could be content.”
I offered back to her, “It sounds like you’re wanting more life.”
Three years ago, she had come to me seeking to move beyond an old pattern and open herself to the possibility of something new. Together, we explored what it might look like for her body to receive what it had once met with resistance.
And over time, something shifted.
She began to integrate and stabilize what had once felt unfamiliar. What had once been difficult to receive began to find a place within her. Her body had learned a new kind of safety, and with that safety came room for something more.
Now, three years later, she was feeling the stirrings of another expansion... like a tree that, having established its roots in nourishing soil, begins to extend a new branch toward the light.
Not because anything is wrong with the branches already grown.
Or because the tree is ungrateful for the ground that holds it.
But because life, by its very nature, continues to reach.
Growing. Becoming. Whispering, there is more.
I reflect on this often. How we can arrive at a place we once prayed for, look around at the life we’ve created, feel genuine gratitude (and perhaps a little boredom, haha!) for all that is here... and still feel the gentle ache of a life wanting to open wider.
A deeper breath. A fuller expression.
A richer experience of being alive in our own skin.
So many of us have learned to mistake this ache for ingratitude.
We quiet the longing, convince ourselves we should be satisfied, or tuck away the parts of us that still want to feel, explore, create, receive, and become.
When perhaps desire is simply the feeling of life reaching for more life.
We are living, breathing, ever-unfolding beings. There is a movement within us toward growth, toward expression, toward discovering what else might be possible.
And I wonder if, for women especially, some of this longing rises from the parts of ourselves we have had to leave untouched for so long.
The parts that know how to soften, but have learned to brace.
The parts that long to receive, but have become so accustomed to giving.
The parts that yearn to move in the rhythm of their own bodies, yet have spent years keeping pace with a world that rarely pauses to ask what a woman's body needs.
The parts that want to feel the full, pulsing aliveness of being here.
Not just to function. Not just to fulfill. Not just to hold everything together.
But to feel.
To inhabit the body as a place of belonging.
To know the quiet wisdom of our own rhythms. To make room for pleasure, for sensuality, for the sacredness of being a woman alive in this world.
To feel God. Experience God. As we are.
To recognize our essence, our form, our desire as holy.
Not that every desire is a divine directive, or every longing something we must pursue.
But that we can experience our longings as the presence of God without shame.
We can listen.
We can become still enough to discern what is asking for our attention, what needs to be felt, and what might be waiting to be born through us.
We can remember that our bodies are not separate from our spirit. That we do not have to leave our flesh behind to be sacred.
And that perhaps the invitation wasn't ever to transcend our humanness, but to inhabit it more fully.
To become more deeply present to the life we've been given.
To let ourselves be here for it.
All of it. (Cue Maya Luna's All of You.)
The breath. The blood. The longing. The tenderness. The pleasure. The mystery of being a woman who is still becoming.
This is part of what has been stirring in me as I bring Wild Woman Wellness back out into the world.
A six-week journey into the wisdom of the female body, our cyclical nature, embodied safety, sensuality, sacred sexuality, and the life-force energy that moves through us.
An invitation to turn toward the parts of yourself that may have been waiting for your attention.
To listen more intimately.
To explore what it means to feel at home within yourself, not simply as an idea, but as a lived experience.
To discover what becomes possible when you stop treating your longing as something to overcome and begin approaching it with curiosity, reverence, and care.
There is no shame in wanting to experience more of the life moving through you.
There is no contradiction between gratitude and growth.
Becoming isn't about reaching for some distant version of ourselves. It's about tending to our roots, returning to the body, to the breath, to the wisdom beneath all the noise... and allowing ourselves to reach toward the light.
Wild Woman Wellness opens for enrollment October 15.
This self-paced experience includes six immersive modules, more than 30 teachings and guided practices, and weekly one-on-one check-ins with me. You'll have 90 days to move through the journey in your own time.
If something in you is stirring, I'd love to welcome you.
